Fortex Pole Bean from Johnny's Selected Seeds. Great fresh flavor, great blanched and frozen b/c it stays firm and flavorful after processing at home.

A lot depends on your style of cooking/type of use. For southern style greenbeans (pole - Greasy, Lazy Wife, Brown seeded Kentucky Wonder) Bush - Mountain half runner, Dixie half runner, Volunteer, Tennessee Greenpod.

Asparagus or Yard Longs and the purple pole bean which turns bright green after it has been in hot water for a couple minutes are our favorites. Bending over to pick bush beans is one of the most painful tasks for us in the yarden so I have stopped growing them.
