I would love to get some various datura seeds including the Ballerina ones. Last year I had great success with the double/triple purple one. I would love a few seeds of those. I didn't get any seed saved.
Wanted datura seeds
Lenjo,
I started and traded away all the seeds I had saved from last year. If you don't get and seeds for the D. Cornucopia aka double purple and white, let me know in the spring. I should have a plant I can send you for postage.
IMPORTANT: Please respond here..I'm watching the thread via my office lap top. My personal computer is crashed and I can't get my Road Runner emails.
Daisy
Flowerjunkie, how big do Daturas grow? I've seen pictures of flowers from the triple purple ones and they are beautiful.
pins2006,
The one I have growing in the ground gets pretty big. I cut it back when it get to 5 foot because it tends to have smaller blooms. I don't fertilize...it gets compost top dress and mulch in the spring and dead leaves in the winter. I'm sure if I fertilized it would get much bigger.
I also grew a single white this year which I did not like. It grows all over the place like a large ground cover...not like the Cornucopia which grows light a small tree.
It sounds beautiful. I can see how you would want to keep it to 5' if the blooms face upwards. Especially if its a double or triple!
Lenjo,
I bought Double Purple and Double Yellow Datura metel seeds and have already started germinating mine. So far I'm getting really good rates. If all goes well, I will have most of the 2 seed packets left, since I only have room to grow about 1 one each plant. Let me know if you're interested.

Sounds like happenstance still has plenty of Datura tatula seeds!

Sounds great, eje!!!Thanks , keep me in mind when you are done planting. I won't start anything for another month or maybe even two.
Here are links to the exact seeds I have:

Thompson Morgan calls this one Datura x candida, not Datura metel.

They say this one is 'Ballerina Purple'; but, I grew this same datura from them last year and it was a pretty hefty plant. If you're growing it in a container, it is going to end up being at least a 12" pot. Great scent, though.
If you have any seeds to trade that would be swell, otherwise SASE would be OK too.
If you need some, please e-mail me.
I'm new to D.G.,but would love to get some of these seeds for sase. Please let me know your address if you have any.
Bonnie
Thanks eje and brinda, with seed from you both I think I will have plenty.
eje, what are you looking for?
