Where does this grow? Is it an annual or perennial? Do you have any seeds? I really like it -- very unusual! Thanks for sharing the pic!

Hi, Jeff-

A query came into the helpdesk, suggersting you might have captured images of Gaillardia aestivalis, rather than G. suavis. Here are some images for comparison:

Gaillardia aestivalis:

versus Gaillardia suavis: http://www.lib.ksu.edu/wildflower/rayless.html

Please let us know what you think - I'll be happy to move the images if you agree.)
Thanks!

I took the liberty of creating a separate entry for G. aestivalis and moving the pictures over ;o)

Sorry that I mislabeled the species on that picture of Gaillardia. Thanks for your help and thanks for correcting my mistake.

No problem - those are great images, as are htop's of the G. suavis - now they both get a little more exposure and recognition.

Any chance you've also come across G. aestivalis var. winkleri? (A white or pale pink variety, native to Texas?) I created an entry for that one too ;o)

No I haven't come across that variety of Gaillardia, but I have seen photographs of the plant you are talking about. Hopefully one day I'll come across it in my travels and add those photos to my collection.
Thanks,
Jeff
