Tha´s it. My water garden is a plastic pot full of water, and my aquatic plant is a common Water Hyacint.
I´m impressed how fast the inflorescence of this plant can grow. I remember the night before that picture, it was dark, and I touched something that I thought it was a broken leaf. I noticed the inflorescence on that very day, and it was still tiny. In 24 hours it just grew a full developed spike with more than a dozen of open flowers. The metabolism of that plant must be fantastic.

You seriously need to upgrade your "pond"--that water hyacinth will take it over in no time! It's a noxious weed here in FL, choking many waterways and costing millions of dollars to try to eradicate it. It is actually illegal to transport that plant without a permit here. It's unfortunate, because it has such a pretty flower on it.
It already did! It grew a lateral bud, and now two plants are growing there. I got this plant, like, 3 months ago (spoil from a bontany class ^.^). It grows like crazy. If I ever dump it, I´ll make sure it will be very dead, because it´s a noxious weed over here too.
Along with it, entangled with the roots, I got a carnivorous plant (an Utricularia) too, but it has never bloomed. They both share the same water.
