Looking for Abutilon, Flowering Maple Seeds

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Does anyone have any Abutilon seeds that they would be willing to trade?
I would really like to try my hand at these, they sure are pretty in the pictures.
I will be glad to email a trade list of what I have to anyone who has some that they would be willing to trade.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look.

Alice, I have Abutilon plants if you want to wait a bit.....popsicle-orane, red, dark red, yellow, and pink and white..E.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I would be glad to wait, I am not in any big hurry. I will send you a trade list so you can see if I have anything that you would like.
I am assuming these are seeds? If plants I will make you a list of things I will have ready by early spring, or when I can get to my garden beds again.
I am sure jealous of your Zone.
I suffer seriously from Zone envy!!!!
Thanks so much

I have an abutilon that is blooming indoors now. Can someone tell me how to harvest the seeds? Thanx.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi,
I have some too if you need more. Mine are tree form & bloom year around. My yellow does not produce much seed, but my hot pink and my dusty rose do.

Celia,
I ran out & grabbed some seeds to show you how you can tell.
The one on the left is just what an un-pollinated dead flower looks like. As you can see, the next 2 are pollinated and they get that gnarled up ball forming. You just leave it on the plant until it is all brown & dried up and then you pull them off & start pulling it apart. It has "gills" inside and you HAVE to make sure and seperate all the gills because the seeds will be sandwiched between them. Thats it!

Uh oh. How do they get pollinated indoors? Can I help them out with a Q-tip? or something? My flowers just drop off when they're done blooming. They look like the first one in your picture.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I don't see why a Q-tip would not work. give it a try on fresh blooms.

Thanks so much everybody you will be receiving mail!!!!
