I have tons of little minnows that the cranes tracked into my pond last summer as eggs on their feet from the rice fields,--I dont know exactly what rice slicks are? Is that a specific fish or is it a generic name for whatever the cranes happen to step in? I also have *shudder* snakes---some are just the typical water musky things and some--:( well some are cotton mouths,---any ideas as to how to detere them? every spring as I wade into the pond to clean leaves ect---they turn into anacondas in my head. Its sorta scary... cheryl
rice slicks? snake deterent?
I don't know of a deterent, but I would rather have an Anaconda than a Cotton Mouth! Are you sure that's what you have?
yeahh in the rural south, they are common,---tho there are some look alikes ---the young ones can be easily confused with plain ol water snakes *cept for the stinky smell* but the fat short black swimming ones??--------sighhh and they dont just hang out in the pond, they like flower beds too. we have rice fields near our house, but water mocasins arent picky at all---and the fish n the frogs n the plant cover, well I guess you take the good with the bad.
a ten foot wall of very slick concrete?
