Anthurium amnicola
I find this an unusual colored spathe for an Anthurium amnicola. The bone- or ivory-colored spadix tipped in yellow along with the white and pink of the spathe give it a very delicate appearance. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Is this possibly planted outside down there in TX? Or a houseplant? I have one called 'Red Hot' that is blooming like crazy in the greenhouse and has been that way since May of last year. I love the glossy leathery leaves and long lasting blooms.
Susan, these are grown as houseplants or outside container plants. In the spring and through until fall, they can be placed in a filtered shade or shade area of the yard where they receive no direct sun. However, we do have frost and freezing weather here, so they must be brought inside in the winter. I left my large closet plant outside from early summer on and had to keep moving it in and out during cold weather. Dumb me ... I forgot to bring it in one night last week and it was freeze burned and I will have to trim off several of its leaves. I apologized to the poor thing.
I saw your Anthurium. It is a lovely color. These tulip varieties are smaller and more compact than the other types of Anthurium.

Thanks, Hazel. I got that plant at Walmart after Valentine's day one year (clearance). It stayed rather small at first, but really leaped since I started using orchid mix in with the potting soil. If you might want a piece, let me know...there are lots of offsets. I am trying to think of things I have that you might want to trade.
Susan, this white variegated one I found At Home Depot. Using orchid fertilizer on them is a great tip. I have no place to put any more plants inside in the winter, but thanks for the offer. If you see something that you might like on my member page (click on the images)let me know ... no trade is necessary.
Hazel, actually I don't use orchid fertilizer, I use orchid potting mix added to a regular soiless mix for my anthurium. The crown will put out lots of roots into it, and the plant sort of grows upward and makes more offsets.
I will email you a list of some things that might grow outside in your area if you would like to trade. I am most definitely interested in several things you posted over the last several months but hate to not give in return. I will pay the postage of course.
Susan
Susan, thanks for setting me straight about the orchid mix. I did not read it correctly and I used to be a remedial reading teacher for a few years! I had better brush up on my comprehension myself. Anything I have in which you are interested, let me know. If I don't have it on my premises, I can usually obtain some. Postage for seeds is not necessary for you to reimburse nor is a trade.
