I've had 3 of these plants in since summer. They looked so pretty with their little buttons, bright red, and dark green on the leaves. Now they are looking pretty poorly. Should I prune them back or something? What's happening to them? This picture is the worse looking one.
Here's another that is more identifiable and doing not quite so poorly.
Looks to me like a Costus, though I don't know which species. The wilting is strange. I've got Costus in my garden and I'm sure that it's much colder here than where you are - so I don't think it's cold damage. The surrounding plants don't look like they'd be suffering from lack of water. Well, I'm out of ideas.
