January 10th already? amazing how time flies.
A friend from work came out last weekend to see my baby goats and beagle puppy. She fell in love with my three bottle babies and invited herself and a friend out again today. Last weekend when she came out she really didn't dress for the barn. Now she is the expert and I overheard her telling the other girl how to dress and that she needs to wear old jeans cause the baby goats jump all over you, and don't wear good shoes. I loaned my one friend a pair of gum boots last week , but they didn't fit too good. I think she will come more prepared today.
My biggest excitement is my little greenhouse arrived yesterday. Well, it is a box of polycarbonate sheets and other pieces. Yellow freight delivered it when I wasn't home. I called them and told them to leave the box on the old well. There is was when I got home. Now to figure out exactly where to put it and make the foundation. I really think I will make the base out of concrete blocks. I could go on and on..
I do love Saturdays. I do most of my part time farming in the dark before and after work this time of year. It's really hard to check all the livestock. but today I get to see everything in the daylight.
My one ewe (that is not going to get the Mother of the year award) has such a pretty little ram lamb. He is a trouper. I will need to band him today. She did have him under better cover last evening and not laying on hard cold ground. The ewe is one of my prettiest so I would hate to sell her. We'll see how she progresses I suppose.
Well , off to the barn.
