Cannon Ball Tree (Couroupita guianensis)
Great picture, sa_haiad.
Thank you! It's a pleasure for me know that you enjoy my pictures. Couroupita is a very ornamental tree.
Awesome. Do I have to go to Guiana to see the real thing?
WOW..ITS BEAUTIFUL
ONLY, IT REMINDS ME OF THE
BIRDHOUSE GOURD, DID YOU
PLANT FROM A SEED
I'm so amazed by the variety I see on the site, that is a wonderful species! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Couroupita guianensis is native in the temporarily flooded forest of the Amazonian region. Suited to the tropics and subtropics, propagates easily by seeds.
These pictures were taken at the hortus of Nacional Museum (RJ/Brasil) where I work.
Thanks sa_haiad. Your pictures are very good, it's an amazing tree.
What an amazing tree! That is a beautiful blossom and an impressive seed pod. WoW!
This tree is just fantastic. Amazing!! Great picture too! THANKS
The flowers and the tree are neat!

Hi, sa-haiad...What an interesting and beautiful bloom ! What is the general shape of the tree ? Any leaves ? And have you any pictures of what the cross-cut of the seed would look like ? (pattern is everywhere !) Also, are the top "layer" of the flower stemens and the lower level all pistels ? It's so strange and unusual to my northern eyes ! But then, I guess tropicals often are uniquely structured, right ?
Like orchids, for instance. Thanks for shareing it !
Wonderful! Thanks! ^_^
