Salvias/Sage

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

Do hummers have a preference among the Salvias? I'm definitely getting Autumn sage, since it used to attract hummers at my old house. What about scarlet sage/texas sage or mexican sage? Do the reds, purples, and pinks among these make a different to the hummers?

The best sage/salvia is guaranticia. It is a blue/purple and is a perrenial. All salvia attracts hummers.

All salvias are good hummer food. there's what's called a native red, goes to 5-6 feet and blooms spring to frost here. the guaranticas don't seem to bloom as well for me though i grow them and love them. i had a van hooteii last year and it was just gorgeous...frost killed it and it didn't reseed.
Home depot up here sell the S. coccineas, lady in red, coral nymph, etc and they never quit blooming til frost....even if you don't take the seeds off, they just keep on blooming as does the native red. and there is a beautiful yellow that blooms in the fall til frost... can't remember the name, nick named forsythia sage, gets large.
shrimp plants are great too, i have four kinds of those.
and the rose leaf sage, pink blooms a really good bloomer.
