This was one I didn't bring in to keep over the winter. I had second thoughts to late. It really held up well with light freezes. But my space was taken up.
One I didn't keep
I had several that I could have kept too, but had to draw the line someplace and chose to keep the colored ones over the whites and creams. I'm sure wishing I had more space and I'd probably keep them all until I saw them bloom a couple of summers.
poor poor brug Peggy! frozen to death! what did you say it was there LAST NIGHT? 9 degrees?
Hey! Me too. It was 9 on Tuesday. Real heatwave today only 17, got up to 26, which it is at this time. brrrr........
maybe i should say, permanently, that if you dont have the space and you're getting rid of it, i'll take it off your hands! :) just for future reference. i'd be more than glad to pay for shipping for a cutting or two of the ones yall dont want. some day though..i'll be good enough at brugs to be picky.
oh! and something else i wanted to tell yall. while i had always been kicking around the idea, i decided this past week that i'm going to add a horticulture major to my plans. going to take a class in propagation this semester. i'm excited!
Peggy, do you know what the cross was on that one? It's prettier than a lot of the whites I've seen. I know how it is... I had to let a lot of them go this fall. Not just seedlings but quite a few of the named brugs didn't get brought in. I kills me though to let seedlings go that I haven't seen bloom.
art_n_garden, That's exciting!! You'll have to teach the secrets you learn. I wish I had got into horticulture when I was in school. Maybe I wouldn't spend so much time learning everything the hard way :O)
Susanne: I have to agree with what you said about other folk's rejects! I am so smitten with brugs now, that I just about can't stand it! I can only hope that I can keep alive the cuttings that people have been so generous to share with me... So far, so good :) Congrats on your horticulture. I agree with Poppysue, wishing I had done it when I was younger....... Gretchen
Kell yes it was 9 degrees the other night in the 20's with snow today. Sue it was given to me as a named brug but it wasn't what it should have been so I don't know the cross. That's the only one I didn't bring in. It was that one or lots of seedlings that I hadn't seen bloom. The seedlings won since I have other whites.
