Ugly duckling, er, tulip

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

This tulip is the result of natural selection. Not something I would have chosen, but the bee must have been color blind when he visited the parents.

Are you kidding? That's very unique. Just give it a fancy name, put it in a fancy catalogue with a glossy pic and charge extra for it.

Wow, that is so unusual! I agree with echoes! :)

So do I! I'd love to have one of those. I love the color blend

You could call it something like Easter Sunrise or Sunrise Service, and everyone will be wanting it.

I never thought of that. All the tulips I have were here when we moved here. When they started comming up I could tell where the flower beds were, can we say neglected? There are probably others that are natural crosses and came out pretty, but this one was just outrageous. I'm glad somebody likes it.

there are protcals for naming plants. The petal is just an abberant (spelling) petal. The bulb is more than likely gonna be normal next year

If I get the same thing next year I will try to mark the plant to see if it happens again the year after.

They almost look like some of the Rembrants only not as bright. I think Brecks had some very much like these.

Uh, just kidding about the fancy name stuff....not so serious....

Mary, If the same plant does come up again, be sure to post it!!
