Jenks,
I would love a cutting. What a beautiful flower! What do you have it planted with?

Well now it's with mulch! LOL I cut it to the ground for winter and mulch. But I did have two of them right next to each other and they grew into one giant bush/tree. I am thinking of pruning them into tree shapes next year. I had some banana trees near them, but it would look really good with a bunch of colorful flowers around the bottom-yellows and purples? LOL Divying up the cuttings and getting them ready now-

Around here the way we propigate them is to dig a foot deep hole, and bury the cutting at a 45 degree angle with the top of the cutting about 4 inches under the ground. And do it now - we do - or asap. In the spring, they just grow up out of the ground. Come winter, we cut em down again.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Jenks - it seems I have 2 varieties - one looks like yours, pink from the beginning of the bloom, the other starts out white and turns pink after a few days. Which type are yours??

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

They are the type that are pink the whole time. I've not heard of the other-that sounds interesting Azalea. Do you have pictures by any chance? :0D

BTW those narcissus you sent me, are STILL blooming. Right now-they started around Christmas-outside. Is that unusual? Is it because we had such a warm winter (until now)? They've survived quite a few frosts now. THANK YOU for them too! I love them. Did you plant the lollipop lilies I sent you? I know it was only a few, but I only had a few. I wish I had a bunch more-have the eyes peepled for discount lily bulbs!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Oops - I really don't know, must have planted them tho- I planted a ton of bulbs this fall! Glad you like the narcissus. They really should have waited til spring to bloom with the daffs!

Don't have a pic of the kind that changes colors - check the PDB. My dil just gave me one last fall, hers were blooming beautifully.

Brooklet, GA(Zone 8a)

Alecia,

You are absolutely wonderful! I put all the cuttings in water as soon as they came in. Just this weekend I put them in potting soil and in the greenhouse. They started budding out like the brugs do so I thought it was time to let them have soil. They are doing great! Truely a wonderful feeling after trading for this many times and not getting them sent to me or getting cuttings that were too too week (can't say either about the "trees" you sent LOL). I'm so excited! Can you tell!

My yard is yours!

My computer is still down so I can't get emails...if you are trying to reach me please reach me via mail call or here...I will check via my office computer.

Thanks again!!!!

Jenks,
I would like some for SASE please.

hiram, GA(Zone 7b)

Put my cuttings in water too, even the 2" in diameter one. They all have white nubbies, and are being transplanted to nice pots of miracle grow this afternoon. They are great! Thanks Jenks

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi Ladi, sorry but they have all gone out! I buried some out back for Honeybee, so come spring if I have a few, I can send you an extra.....

Schriever, LA(Zone 9a)

Jenks,
That would be great:) Confederate Rose is on my want list. I might have something mature enough come spring that would interest you by then.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Alecia,

I noticed the Rose of Sharon cuttings are sprouting new leaves!

Thanks a bunch,

Daisy

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

Daisy- You mean Confederate Rose? I am sure you know already, but just in case....... Both are Hibiscus, but the CRose is Hibiscus Mutabilis, while Rose of Sharon is Hibiscus Syriacus. I don't have any Rose of Sharon, I wouldn't mind trying some out though. ;)

SOmething interesting-I sent Clayton's out late so before I sent them, I unwrapped the cuttings I'd set aside for him and re-wrapped them. When I did so, there were root "nobbies" and new leaves! Small, white ones from being wrapped up, but I think I may go dig up a few of the cuttings I buried for Honeybee and try to root them inside this way. Only sideways in moist dirt instead of wet papertowels!

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Jenks,

NO! I didn't know. I have never grown either and was never really interested in either until I saw the actual blooms. Now I want them both! I had arranged a trade with another person for The Rose of Sharon and never got it, its been months since I sent my stuff and got confirmation that it arrived. When I saw your post for Confederate Rose I thought they were one in the same. The flower looked similiar to me and just thought the hibiscus had two common names as some plant do. I'm excited to have something totally new but sad that I still don't have The Rose of Sharon. The hunt goes on.....

I just went out to the GH to correctly label my Confederate Rose from you and noticed that all the cuttings are budding out! How exciting. If you are short on any trade promises let me know. I certainly don't need as many as you sent me. Once they are completely rooted I can send one along with the box I'm sending you this spring.

When I unwrapped the cutting you sent me they were starting to get those white little nubbies too. So I think you might be on to something by rooting them indoors.

Thanks again!

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

flowerjunkie, I have white Rose of Sharon if you are interested lmk.

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Hi yardbird,

I would love some of your white rose of sharon. What can I send you for it? I have many tropicals and loves sharing. Your in zone 7b so I should have many things for you to choose from. Can I send you a list of available plants?

Daisy
