Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Hummmph! That is the "Great North American Honker"
....... I hybridized and registered that monstrosity nine years ago but it was one of those sterile hybrids..the anthers covered in a sticky substance that the pollen grains should adhere to but the substance was acidic and destroyed any pollen therefore deposited.... .....no roots for division only a mushy tuber-like stump that rotted soon as it was disturbed.
.......... You will find after the first flush of blooms and fruit set that it will never bloom again but in the interim emits an increasingly strong carrion odor.
............... I finally got out the back hoe and buried it in the back 40. I could see a flock of our native Turkey Buzzards swooping over that area many times while walking to the barn in the morning.
...............A few years later I returned to the area while checking fence and there was a huge crater-like depression where I had buried that foul smelling creation, much of the surrounding soil had changed to a lava-like rock formation and I could see fossils of some of the Turkey Buzzards embedded in the lava rock................
.....................I will burn a compost pile tomorrow at sunrise for your protection from this strange species.
.........Take care my friend, be sure to wear a purple do-rag to cover your skull and an orange bandanna tied above your left knee, this should keep you safe from the curse.
Bibbidy-bobbity-boo!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

ROTFLMAO!!!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

LOLOLOL...and i thought I had wonderful new species to share! I will still save seeds for CC (I have heard she is a brave and fearless woman) and leave it be for I am not so sure you speak the truth scooter! (have a purple do-rag and orange bandana in the shed)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Weed,
.......There Will not be any seeds!!!
............... I believe that it somehow disperses a type of atom dust of selfing. You may try enclosing "IT" in a bubble with an air exchange micro filter and see if you can trap any spore-like material. Then use some Grey water for incubation. Protect from sunrise as the newly growing plantlets will dry up from the light of the sunrise, I call this the "Vampire Syndrome"
.......Be sure to wear the protective gear I suggested, the spores are attracted to human scalp dander and the minute electrical friction caused by the patella 's movement.

Wish you a safe and fruitful propagation.

really enjoying this thread :D ROFLMAO

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Hi Lilypon, what color seeds do you want?

Scooter, you say attracted to scalp dander? I do declare! I use head and shoulders so I will be immune but my new puppy did look like she had been electromagnitized this morning...hair all standing up and everything. Wonder what will happen to all the cats in the neigborhood? Oh no, guess what I just found right outside my yard??? A dead possum! It is starting, must get my do-rag, I have work to do.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

The blue one tickled my fancy :)

Have the neighborhood cats figured out yet that your
yard is now off limits?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

hmmmmm....if'n it nails possums....maybe the same for 'dillos?? ...weeds, you could be on to something. I'll take some seeds!!!

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Connie,
If there are a few left, I would love some seeds..Any old color, lol, I won't be choosy.. What ya want for them? Trade or postage?

i would think that 'dillos would be safe, lisa
they dont really have much hair...
do they?
no dillo i've ever seen was particularly hairy, atleast
lol
Kim :)

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Lilypon, haven't seen any cats in my yard lately....
Lisa, I will definitely send you some of the black ones, I do believe they are the most potent and you know, haven't seen any dillo's round here lately, miss_kitty, I think they have hair in their ears don't they?
Root, I think there are babies coming up already, this thing could get out of control so you will have a sprout for sure. CC, if I see another "thing" appear on it, we will know for sure.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Larkie, you can all the seeds you want! I owe you anyway...but are you REALLY sure you want these? Did you read what scooter said????

Franklin, LA(Zone 9b)

maybe they do
i've seen many dillos up close and personal (in cages.. my neighbor was trapping them to relocate them out of the neighborhood) and i dont think i ever made it a point to notice whether or not they had hair in their ears! lol :)

love this thread!

Hey Root, we have to get you one then, want DGers to make the paper, in the gardening section anyway.
I personally think dillos are adorable, on the side of the road. They are so prehistoric looking.
