Progress question on brug babies

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Hi, All -

Okay, here is a new pic of my brug "stick babies" I got from wantabegardener. They were planted in these cups exactly two months ago (November 1). I am now getting a little concerned about the lack of progress on the middle one (Insignis Pink). Not a SIGN of a leaf yet although it has had a few roots for 6 weeks. What's up with that?? Could I have planted it upside down? Would it still have produced roots if I did?

The other two (Dr. Suess on left and Jean Pasco on right are doing fine). Also..at what point should I move them to bigger pots - when they seem totally rootbound or sooner?

I also sowed my datura seeds for the first time today..but I will post about that in another post with my questions..

They look healthy enough to me. Some just take a lot longer to get going than others. There's a picture at the bottom of this page of a leaf node and how to tell if the cutting is right-side up. http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/brugcut.htm

Thanks, Poppysue - I guess I will just have to be patient. I am hoping they will get large enough to flower for me by summer. Living here on the CT shoreline (zone 6b)in a small house, I won't be able to winter them over indoors - so whatever blooms I get by frost will be it - By late fall, I will have to take cuttings and start them again next year.

Diane,
I think I see roots in the cup of the middle one so I would not be concerned. They look great!

I too, see roots through cup. All look very good and healthy, will just take time. Good luck.
