i FOUND THIS http://www6.mailordercentral.com/igcusastore/prodinfo.asp?number=PR-HMH&variation=&aitem=6&mitem=7TODAY , IS THIS A GOOD PRICE? I WANTED A EXPERT OPINION BEFORE I ORDERED
Is this a good price on a grow mat
It is a good price, but be sure to get the thermostat that goes with it. You don't want to burn up your seeds. I germinate my brug seeds at normal room temperature and get along fine that way.
I havent used a grow mat before either, things seem to get along fine.
I have only had one seed to germinate so far and it has been in the high 60's and low seventies here for sveral weeks now. i am having to air out my Gh every day because it is so hot!! I think the fungas knats are getting to my seeds so i have decided to go with some one here i can't remember who it was that suggested the New saran wrap. Got that yesterday and i am going to re-pot me some seeds. maybe i won't need it after all but it is on my want list .
Yes, it's a very good price. I paid $21.95 about 5 yrs. ago for mine. It has no control, just keeps about 70-80 degrees while on. you can place your things where you want it warmer or cooler. Have used mine a lot inside the plastic GH, 10" x 20", has the plastic cover for humidity.
Springsong, I think a lot of my germination failures were due to fungus gnats, also. But since I converted over to the rockwool method in closed containers, I haven't had that problem.
You can find step by step instructions here

Ok....I was away for more than a month because my computer died! I keep seeing 'rockwool'! Could someone tell me more about it? It sounds very interesting!
Brinda :)
I just saw some on ebay...not sure what the price was but I thought it was reasonable when I looked
Thanks, Shelly, but I can't take credit for it. It was Neville's article at BGI that inspired me to try it.
Well thank you for bringing it up, and thank goodness Neville shared it with us at BGI. :o)
Brin, theres a link that Mary gave at 2:52, that has what I know about it. Hope that helps.
Brinda, here ya go :)

Thanks so much you two! Now I know 'all' the answers! LOL This stuff looks great! I've gotta try it.
What is rockwool? Is it like insulation material because I am allergic to that.
"Fi-Grow rock wool is produced from molten slag rock and the fiber is granulated immediately after fiberizing. Fi-Grow is totally sterile and inert and is an ideal medium for plant propagation, compost extending and soil conditioning. The rock wool fibers are designed for ideal fiber size, texture, capillarity and structure to enhance plant growth. Fi-Grow is available in its natural state as a water absorbent (WA) granulated form. Three-size grading (Coarse, Medium, Fine) is available to suit the particular application and mixing needs". http://www.fibrox.com/prod05.htm
