A Wake for Maya

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

It saddens me to say that Maya joined her Daddy at Rainbow Bridge this afternoon. I know my DG family can feel my pain and is here to give support. I would like to have a wake for her to celebrate life.

Maya was the coolest dog...very laid back, but when the time came to "mean business" she was all business. My son says she was a princess..but a royal "B" when it was needed. She is in the memory garden next to her Daddy who was a Greyhound..Mom was Lab/Chow.

Caeser was Maya's Daddy and my first Greyhound. He thought he owned St. George Island. He once snached a porterhouse steak off a neighbor's grill as it was cooking!

Brindle,Caeser's wife, was #2. She was my beer hound...a friend would stop by after work to share a beer with her. If he didn't have one he had to get one out of the fridge or she wouldn't leave him alone. We kept a shell by the front door which was her "beer glass".

Pooh was the son of Caeser and Brindle. My 3 legged wonder kid. One day he showed up toting a 5lb. bag of puppy chow. We never did find out where he found it,but he was right proud of himself to bring home dinner.

Hannibul was Greyhound #4. When my Dad had to give up his apartment in Philly we took Bul with us. Pops was not happy about the idea, but was soon won over by Bul's gentle nature and expressive eyes. From then on the first thing Pops wanted to know when was how is Hannibul? Never mind how I was...how was the dog. LOL

We still have 4 dogs...2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks and 2 mutts that think they're mountain goats. Maya will have a red rose planted on her grave as requested by my son.

So please,in celebration of the lives of pets gone to Rainbow Bridge share with us a happy memory. You are missed sweet Maya, but you will always be in my heart. XOXO
