Best way to catch those flying insect in the greenhouse.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Is yellow dixie cups and plates, but if you need something bigger, wrap a yellow plastic material around pvc pipe smear on the tangleroot, and hang up,and stand back and just watch those nasty critters get stuck!!!

Welcome to DGs, Tropicman :) Is this the thread you were talking about with regard to the spider mites in the Brug forum? Do you think the spider mites will like the yellow, too? This sounds like a dandy solution to me :)

I'm not sure what tangleroot is, though?

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

ick Looks like it works great. lol

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Morph,I don't think it catches spidermites, unless it touches the plant, then it might, mainly for flying insects, which you can see it really works, tangleroot ,you can purchase at your local nursery, its what they put on those red wood apples to catch apple maggots.

Thanks :)

My pleasure!

Does it work for aphids? I can't tell from the photo what breed of "livestock" those are. I'll have to try that, it appears to be working great!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

I'm not sure about aphids, here again unless you have it among the plants,I have used the cards that you place right among the leaves of the plants, seems to me it might have worked to some extent,I seem to have the problem of the flying gnats and the indestructible whitefly problem, because I keep my houses in very high humidity, for the bananas and brugs, which cuts down on the spidermite and aphid problem.

Another question if you don't mind, Tropicman. I can't find that yellow saran wrap. Is it saran wrap? Where did you find yours? Thx!

Stockton, MO(Zone 6b)

I've seen that sticky stuff sold as tanglefoot in some gardening catalogues, like Mellingers.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Morph,I got it at Hancock fabrics.it came as a 4ft wide material you buy from a roll,in the upholstery department.
The yellow cups and dixie plates work just as well, just don't cover a wide area as what I did here.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I've got tanglefoot and whiteflys...thanks for the idea
Tropicman :)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Lil,
just hang them near your plants, give the plants a good shake and watch them fly straight to the yellow plates and stick!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Like the sound of that :)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)
