Good morning farmers. Winter is finally here, trying to make up for lost time since it was about a month late comming. Yesterday we had blowing snow all day. When my hubby came home from work he drove through a big drift at the top of the driveway and made snow fly everywhere. About an hour later our friend came home and got stuck in that drift. On his way down the driveway he fell down in another drift and looked like a snowman when he got to the house. They took the tractor and pulled him out. This morning they chained up the tractor and started plowing but got the tractor stuck, got it out and made a clear lane to drive out. The neighbor is comming later with his plow, I see him now making a berm in the field next to the driveway to change the wind pattern and make the snow settle before it gets to our driveway. Winter can be interesting here. This morning the temp was +4 but it got to 0 before the sun came up. I checked the temp on the local weather report that comes from the airport near town, they had -9, so we might be in the bannana belt after all!
The horses are playing in the pasture to keep warm in between watching the house to see when food might be comming.
Have a great day everyone, count your blessings.
