DH bought me one of these babies for Christmas. It's my first brug "bought" brug. Any advice? He just saw a picture on the brug site and decided "he" wanted that one. Where is the best place to put it when it gets here? I have the rack with lights, as well as a place in a east window and south window. I know it needs a light soil, will potting soil with perlite and peat moss be light enough? I'm a newbie, please bear with me.

Everything you mention sounds good. Loose soil, lots of light, fertilize lightly until growing full force, then extra fertilizer. I have had buds on mine 4 tinmes, have yet to see it bloom. It is 4 years old. Still waiting and hoping.

HG's are very beautiful but can be somewhat frustrating as most need a couple of years to mature. But then , some bloom the first year for those with the magic touch (-:

Don't get discouraged,in spring you can request many different cuttings from those offering such =)
Good Luck !

The seeds you will be starting may bloom before your HG plant, but it will be well worth waiting for!

Spacecowgirl,I would put that HG in good potting soil without additional peat or perlite.Sometimes we make our soil too light.Pot it up,soak it good once and put it in a shady, warm location until it recovers from the shipping.Don't over-water.

Thanks! I have miracle grow soil with no additives. Will this do alright? What spurs flowering in the HG?

Nothing special, they seem to make buds same as all others, but buds won't stay on. I had the most luck in fall and winter when it was cooler.
