Fabric shades

I would like to try and make my own shades for the different rooms in the house. I want them to be simple, easy, ... and most of all - NO SEW! Actually I can handle straight hems but would prefer to use a glue gun or a fusible webbing.

Has anyone attempted shades? I was hoping I could use the rollers from cheep shades I bought with iron on backing to make the fabric stiff. Maybe trim them out with pinking shears and lace to fancy them up? Will it work?
