There is lots of wonderful help and support here in Dave's Garden.
WOW!!!!!
only "joined the club"
yesterday and already feel
"da love"...THANK YOU///
Now, would enjoy some
suggestions on how to start
filling in that big bare yard.
Did use some thin tree branches
to create a sorta nature walk
today, I think it has possibilities... can't wait
to hear from ya'll....
Welcome to Daves. I have a BIL that lives in Hampton, VA. Nice area out there, just too much traffic for me to enjoy. Can't wait to see before and after pictures of your yard.
Hi Brugle!
Thanks for the nice
welcome..I've lived here
on the peninsula all my life,
moved to fla. (3yrs) St Pete.
Hated it at christmas, couldn't
get with the buying a tree in
shorts and flip flops. Came
back and here I am with about
a billion other folks, We are
over populated for sure. Is
you BIL military?
Yes, the whole family was military. My BIL is retired from the shipyards now. My husband is retired Navy. I'd like to try buying a tree in Florida for a couple of winters just to see if I could handle it. Somehow, I don't think it would be a problem. LOL!! Later.........Shirley
Welcome, welcome . . . to our garden; you will find it warm and friendly here!
Hi deller, welcome to Davesgarden. If you post some of your questions on the Garden Talk forum, or Perennials or maybe even Landscaping I bet you will get lots of suggestions and ideas. See ya around.
Hi deller, welcome to the best little garden ever. My backyard was an open palette when we moved here, so I can sympathize with you. I do know that you will have a blast designing and planting all that open turf to a delicious garden of flowers, shrubs and trees. Those forums MaryE mentioned will be of enormous help. Happy Gardening!
Wow! An Acre! I have a 14 X 80 foot wooded yard, and I'm running out of space. Just keep the strip along the street low so you can see the cars coming, and be sure you leave room for shrub and tree growth so it doesn't create problems in the future (or you could end up moving or taking out stuff as it gets too big). Welcome to Dave's Garden!
Hi Ewald.
Thanks for the suggestion..
I'll be sure to remember that.
The wonderful, generous folks
at Dg have kept my mailbox
full this past week,,I'm
so excited!! I got a notepad
to start drawing out my design
I want to make sure I can see
it from my kitchen table..
I want to have an english
garden look...
take care and thanks.
anymore thoughts send them my
way/
Deller welcome from my garden to yours. I hope you enjoy to the fullest everthing this place has to offer and it is an inexhaustable source of common sense problem solving. It may take some time but sooner or later someone will be by and either answer your question or point you to the direction where the answer lies.
Hmmm an acre 42 thousand square feet birds and bushy tails both need the same things to be happy feed and cover. You have a big yard so try to include a lot of low maintenance areas to satisfy that and provide a wind break and sun break for those plants that like shade.
It's all good here enjoy Ernie

Welcome neighbor! I'm in Kenbridge just north of NC border way over in the middle of the state.
Enjoy your new property.
Deller, our daughter lives in Richmond, Va. We may be coming out the later part of the month for a few days. If we do, would you be interested in meeting? I may be able to get some iris and daylilies out of the ground if it isn't too frozen. Maybe even some daffodil bulbs, etc.
Hi Leaflady,
Richmond is about an hour
north from me. we could
meet maybe in williamsburg for
lunch> thats about half way.
let me know...
would appriciate want ever
you can spare from the ground.
deller
Now if ya'll are going to meet at Williamsburg...bring me some of Pierce's BBQ!!! YUMMY Jo
pierce's BBQ is still the best,
gotta have it loaded with cole
slaw and some hot sauce..
