Please don't laugh at me

I see this forum is combined for brugs and daturas. I picked up a datura, (the lady said it was) and had to ride about 2 hours in the car to bring it home. By the time I got home, the one bloom had fallen off. (5 or 6 more on the way tho)

Is this a datura, what kind and what's the difference between a dat and a brug?

Well Molly you do have a Datura there, from what I can see it is Double Purple Swirl and could be triple.....I have these and they are really pretty.
Datura and Brugs differ in many ways but the one I always remember is the Datura Flower always points up and the Brug flower down.......... :o)

Well, thank you Dee, I can't wait until those other blooms open up so I can see them again.

In your part of the country you should have lots of blooms and seed pods. I try and limit the number of seed pods on mine to 2 so it will keep blooming lots......these will need to be replanted eventually so save you some seeds and start you a couple more.....Mine is a year old now and still going but I don't know how much longer it will bloom before it dies.........

This is what the pods on this one look like. They are diffrent than other varities since they are smoother and don't have the spikes or stickers like the whites and some yellows do.....

Lovely pictures. I will keep a look out for the pods and do as you suggest. Hate to see these beauties die, but with seeds we can have more. :^) Thank you Dee, very helpful.

I've got 2 new blossoms coming on this one, but is that 3rd growth over to the right in the shadow an early bud or is it a seed pod?

Hi, MollyMc - that 4rd growth is another bud - congratulations! :-)

The seed pods form on the stem piece where the flower falls off. You should remove that stem except for one or two pods (they will form on EVERY flower stem after the flower falls off) - but if you don't remove them, the plant will stop flowering - alternatively it will flower continuously if you don't have too many seed pods. Good luck with it - you will love it!
