Gorgeous picture. And I"ll bet it's even prettier "in person". :>) Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all that "live" in this garden. I've reaped so much knowledge because everyone here is so willing to share what they know; not to mention sharing plants and seeds. Why,it's Christmas all year round here at DG!! The spirit of giving never stops here.

While I was out of town in Gatlinburg (12/23/03) I had the opportunity to meet an incredible person. she's been very helpful to most of us here at Daves with her wealth of information on brugs and anything that we all wanted to know about them.
Most of us here have probably at some point or another purchased plants from or have been given plants by her,I know if it wasn't for her and and a few other good friends here,my brug collection would be nothing.
She along with her family lived a little over an hour from Gatlinburg and were kind enough to drive over so we could all meet in person. We had a great evening starting with dinner at Texas Roadhouse then we just walked around Gatlinburg in the rain.
The person i'm talking about is Susie French(aka callalily). It was great to actually get the chance to meet someone that i've heard so much about.
Sorry I don't have any pics to post of our meeting but I didn't think to take a camera with me and it was pouring rain anyway.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm happy for you David. Too bad about the weather, but at least you got to meet Susie. I know that it was high on your priority list. It was nice that Susie and her family could come to meet you.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Glad that you made it home safely David and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. It is great that you got to meet Susie and her family.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Awww that sounds wonderful! How neat! So many have visited Susie! How fortunate. :o)

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I must have missed something(as usual).I thought Susie moved to Texas.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Me too! Guess we missed the boat someplace JT???

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

That's neat. How did that come about?

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Linda, I have family and friends in KY,OH,and W.V. that I go to visit once or twice a year. This time I decided to take a different route and stop in Gatlinburg for a few days before going on up to the other places.

I had asked some people how close to Susie I would be and no one knew for sure but I then found out from her that she was only about 35-40 miles from my hotel in Gatlinburg so we made arrangements to meet one another while I was there. I wasn't able to drive to her place because I wasn't traveling alone and I was the passenger and do not like to make a habit of driving other peoples vehicles for risk of accident.
We had a great time together talking brugs over steaks(extra RARE! on mine please)and topped the visit off by walking around town in the rain and cold rain at that.
I think i'm gonna end up paying for that though,I now have a slight cough and terrible sinus pressure.
As for her moving, they are moving to Texas and she did tell me when but I don't think I should post that info on a public forum.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

David, glad you got to meet, Susie. Hope you get over your cough and sinus pressure real soon.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I just talked to Susie tonight David, and she had a great time too!! Peggy is with her now. They are having a slumber party! Too bad you did not get to see her gardens and GH. Of course this the wrong time to do that!!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Merry Christmas, David! (late)
And Happy New Year, too! (early) ... LOL
Glad you had a great time and back home safe and sound ((o:
Take care of yourself to get over that cold.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)
