may your gardens rest peacefully during the season and greetings to you all!........Elaine
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good nite. I'm stuffed like the bird and ready for sleep.
What did the Chef have for Christmas? Better yet who
cooked it?
I don't cook for Christmas any more. I bring the duchess potatoes which are my niece's favourite, plum pudding and hard sauce and the wine and that's it. My sister and niece do the rest and we are pretty traditional - turkey, stuffing, candied yams, and oh yeah there have to be brussel sprouts. Boxing day I started the prep for the New Years eve menu and New Years day I will start on a new menu for 2004 and sweethearts week cause they'll be phonin' for that one the first week of the new year.
So when do you have the time to start all those new seeds
you ordered?!?
Thats why all of us short season gardeners have long hours of nighttime in the winter LOL
Must get started on my seeds early this year!...HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy New Year Elaine! :)
foodies check our new years eve menu on the site. We always do a faux new years eve on the 30th for the folks who have to work on the 31st or who are just plain smart and would rather celebrate when the world is not so hectic and crazy. Went well - did about 50 covers which is a good test for the menu and quantities. Will do 125 tonite and crawl home. The big taste winners with the staff were the onion timale with mushroom ragout and the smoked tuna and arugala salad. The best of 2004 to you all.
I have looked at your site a few times...I make a point to
eat first then look! You have a menu to drool over and
a national reputation for excellent food...even the
description of the staff choice makes my stomach growl.
All the best to you as well...try sleeping in til 8 tomorrow
you have earned it :)!
Numeroo you chefs--I don't know your site jagonjune--where do I find it? Duchesse Potatoes are a favourite of mine, also. Christmas menu almost identical--Dad from Sask, Mom from Alta. I was born in the Peace River (Alta), must concentrate as it flows across the Prairies and over the Rockies as I am now getting most ravenous at 10 am.
Lilypon,'floriferous' is a great word for a 2004 full of all colours of the rainbow.
The Best to All in the New Year!! Grow lots.
The write up is at www.edmontonplus.ca ... Lynn's
cooking has gotten unheardof rated as one of the top
100 places to eat in Canada.
Her site http://www.unheardof.com
We have almost the same meal here as well...just add
shrimp cocktail for a starter and a 24 hour salad. New
years we have the same but substitute Hostess Ham and
scalloped potatoes. Love the Hostess Ham but it is so
hard to find...I think Moose Jaw just brought in two this
year and we were very lucky to get one of them. :)

Thank You, Lilypon: What a wonderful write up. Congratulations to you, Lynn. Wish I were closer! Sounds right up our alley. Usually I'm in my diamond tiara and my husband in denims--and he was born in Vancouver.
May 2004 bring All of You Joy.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
LOTS OF GOOD, AND SAFE, HAPPY FUN IN THE YEAR, 2004!!!!!!!! Elaine
Happy and Healthy New Year!
