I discovered that my Whiskers brug had a blossom. It is the first Whiskers bloom for me. WOW, look at those tendrils!

Padre, Whiskers has such a lovely shape and I am so glad that you got to see it bloom for the first time. How are all your cuttings and seeds doing?

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks for the feedback and affirming encouragement. I have now noticed that my Citronella brug has six blossoms about to open. I'll start a new string and post pictures when they open wide. Meanwhile I am learning how to deal with aphids, and white flies. Each day has its own lessons. It is often said that wisdom comes with old age, but then sometimes old age comes alone ;-)

Lovely, Padre (o:
Whiskers is one of my very favourite brugs.

Merry Christmas, too!

Merry Christmas, Padre! Will you be pollinating your 'Whiskers' and 'Citronella'?

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

Not my intention but something to think about. I have no pollen now. I have too much to learn before I get into pollinating. A step at a time. I have to learn my scales before I can play a concerto.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Padre, I have a few good pollens if you want to try your hand with Whiskers.

Padre, sounds like you will have some good help with those scales...practice makes perfect...brugs! John

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks Abutilon, but the whiskers bloom is about finished now and by the time anything you might send arrives there will be no whiskers flower to polinate.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Hmmm, 'Citronella' is an aurea multihybrid, crossing with a versicolor (pollen) might give you an interesting double...

The Citronella is now in bloom. http://davesgarden.com/t/412280/

Padre, start collecting pollen from your blooms now. You can store it in your freezer and you'll have a supply when things get going in spring. It's nice to have some pollen available when you need it.
