Ok just curious---------how many of yall have had the flu so far? my lil boy got his shot but?????????? it didnt cover the new flu,-- and naturally thats just what he picked up,---his wasnt as severe as DH and mine tho, or maybe age is catchin up with me? It comes with every symptom under the sun except polkadots....yall stay well. cheryl
lets take a poll?
Do not like to word it like this, but.......we are waiting to catch it. So far, so good!
Jim has it right now and has an appointment to see the DR. this morning. He has been sick since Friday. The poor guy hasn't had much sleep due to all the coughing and now his tummy muscles are killing him. I hope the DR. can do something for him. I think it is going to be a hard bug to avoid. I couldn't believe the people in the grocery store and Wally World that were coughing and shouldn't have been there. I'm sure the ventilation systems in the stores are just circulating the germs everywhere. Staying home if you are healthy seems like the best thing to do right now.
i haven't had it yet either-- but 2 of my best friends already have. i had a different form, some stomach virus that was just aawwful- so be careful for that one too.
We both have just recovered from a bad cold, only my cough is still very persistent. Good for us that it has been only a bad cold and not te flu!
Brugie, I hope, Jim is feeling better soon!
The first week of December I had a real bad cold, and a ton of work that kept me at the office. I was miserable. Like many people I still have some sniffles and cough, the stuff just does not want to let go!
me and my son and my daughter, have had it as you may know from other posts my son was really sick with it (scared me) then my husbands aunt had it and was in the hospital with double pneummonia from it. My vet and his wife have it now and several older people in my church are sick with it. It is a nasty Bugger!! hope yo recover fast!!
Sure hope you can't catch it from the website. lol
Seriously, hope everyone is recovering that has had it. It sounds like a really nasty bug.
DH had it, mostly just a bad, horrid cold. AFter a week of OTC junk, I told him it might be a good idea if he saw the MD down at our chiropractor's office. Good thing I kinda badgered him into it, as he was borderline bronchitis AGAIN! He had it really bad in March, but one of those deals where you put it off for a couple weeks and finally go in when you're half dead. Want to make SURE we're really sick before we see a dr. Spouse, being a good Christian and living by the adage that "nice people share" did just that with his affliction, but I didn't get it nearly as bad, since I started hitting it hard with homeopathic stuff. Go ahead, laugh, but some of that stuff really works. Spouse had to cave and get some antibiotics and cough dope with codeine, since nothing but a narcotic will even slow his cough down. Feeling back up to par again, so hope that is all for this household.
This is my sixth day and I hope I'm on the downhill slide. This has been awful. I can't stand without trying to faint. I hope my DH doesn't get it because he'll have to be hospitalized.
I had it in November, missed 2 weeks of work since it also
developed into bronchitis..miserable stuff this year.
Wouldn't that picture above make a pretty Christmas Card?
yes, Kell posts the prettiest pictures she must have a really nice camera, Kell what kind of camera do you use?
I've had it and Will is recovering from it, now Travis has it. None of us had the shot, just don't see the point. Have had the shot in the past and still got the flu. Usually if Will gets the shot he has the worst case ever so I don't think he will get the shot anymore.....I relize the shot only protects you from certain strains but seems everytime I have had the shot I get anothe strain of the flu.
Think I will just take my chances from now on.
I didn't have it as bad as some was only down about 5 days and still recovering just very low on energy, and stamina. That will be better soon.......
Dee
Gosh, I hope everyone will get well in time for the Holidays. Take care everyone.
Three of my grandchildren have the flu right now. i am sure hoping they are feeling better by Christmas. So far so good for my DH and I. I sure don't need to catch it right now...........Patricia
I sure hope y'all are feeling better and able to enjoy the holidays, healthy!!!
My husband of nearly two years was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia October 2002, and after three mega rounds of in-hospital chemo and total body radiation was blessed to receive a bone marrow transplant in January. All things considered, he's progressing nicely, and is cancer free to date!!! We've both had the flu shot and I just pray that we don't get it, because I'm not sure he'd survive a bout with this ugly monster. Gretchen
Gretchen, please be very careful of this one. It is bad. I hope and pray that you guys don't get this. You are right, it would probably be very tough on him. Besides, it sounds like you two have been through enough for a while. I'm glad things are looking good for your DH.
I NEVER get sick!I felt this thing come on,coming home from work,I was on the 42nd st. bridge,by the time I got home to 34th st.I was freezing!!I did not want to undress to shower, after a shower I shivered for a whole day,I was under 3 quilts!Thermostat set on 75,Monica(poor girl)was hot,I could have had the temp at 95 and still been cold, then as quick as it came on,I turned to sweating like crazy for a day, could have stood in a snowbank, woke up today and it is gone,it left as quick as it came. But while I had it,I swear it was the worst I have had!!!
Shirley -- thank you!!! We are doing our best to try to stay away from crowds, etc... You take care and have a really nice, blessed Christmas! Gretchen
I do hope that all of you who have had flu or whatever are over it enough to enjoy the Holidays. Thankgoodness so far I have been fine. Donna
Gretchen, I haven't been out around anyone but I caught the flu. This is the sixth day for it and I still try to faint everytime I stand up. I don't think anything saves you from it except maybe a strong resistance
Ada: Bless your heart! I do hope you are feeling better really soon!!! God Bless You!!! Gretchen
I feel fortunate that no one in my family has gotten the flue so far. I understand that it is terrible and some of you certainly verified that in this thread. I sure hope my immune system does not fail me now . . lol I am now getting over bronchitis which I took antibiotics for. Don't know where it came from since I was still confined when it started a couple weeks ago.
Thanks Gretchen. I didn't have much of a cough but I sure had the throwing up. Boy, am I glad that stopped. LOL Now if the severe headache and body aches will just leave. I pray you don't get it. Merry Christmas.
Ada, I hope you get to feeling better very soon. Sounds like you had the really bad one.
Knock on wood(my head! LOL) nothing in our house....others have had varying forms of it..but so far so good!
Thanks, Brugie. It's been rough and still not over it. If it doesn't soon leave, I guess I'll make a doctor's appointment. I don't know if they can do anything for it or not.
Kyle, so good to see you here and also good to hear that you haven't been bitten by the bug. Hope you don't get it either.
Gretchen,it might be worth it if you got a prescription filled for Tamiflu just to have it right there for your husband to take immediatly if he starts to feel sick. Maybe you can check with his doctor and see if it would be worthwhile for him to get it. We just got some for my mother who is 85 for we fear if she catches the flu she would die. I have heard that it might be getting hard to get a hold of due to demand, so you might want to check into it.
I am so sorry to hear that so many are ill. I hope you all get to enjoy your Christmas!
Thanks Springsong! I have a Canon Powershot that is no longer made. I am getting a Canon G5 for Christmas!!! It is here already. I can't wait to open it. I also got a Canon Powershot S400 for my son. I can't wait to try that one also!!
I always said to buy a present you can use(like the S400 for your son).
That Tamaflu is good stuff if you take it in time.....to bad lots of folks start taking it to late and don't get the full benifit of it.....I have taken it in the past but to late.....I must say though I don't think it was as bad or lasted as long compared to others that didn't take it.......So it seems to have some benifite for those who do take it later....I'm sure it will vary in some folks....DH has taken it right off when some co-workers came down with the flu a few years back and he didn't get it.......
Dee
With all my health problems I can't get this flu. I have not been out of my house since the first part of Oct. and every one is warned not to come here sick. I thank the cabin fever may take over any moment.
HoniBee, that is too bad to be stuck indoors. Maybe Tamiflu would be good for you to have on hand also. I am going to take it if I start feeling sick.
Gloria, If I am too dumb for the G5 I am going to take the Powershot from the kid! LOL
HoniBee, I hope that you will have a Merry Christmas. Being closed in is no fun. A week of it and I'm going through the roof. Good Luck. I hope you don't get the flu after staying in for so long.
Ok Kell. Give the complicatd one to the kid, he'll figure it out.
Honibee: Sure hope you stay well. Keep writing, we'll try to keep you sane, or maybe send you over the top!
Kell: Thank you for the information. I'll check into it Friday. I've never heard of it, but I also know that at the first sign of any illness DH would be admitted to the bone marrow transplant clinic. I have been taking RM-10 which is an immune boosting supplement made of various mushrooms. And, washing my hands so much that they're dry and cracked ...ach! I hope that all of you have a holiday blessed with good health! Gretchen
