Mailing Acorns

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi, I'm new to Dave's Garden and this forum.

I'm wondering what would be the best way to mail acorns. Has anyone tried mailing acorns?

Hi Neighbor & welcome to the worlds greatest garden site! :~)
I personally would think a padded mailer would be fine since it does not get squeezed through the machine, but if you're in doubt you could always use a small box with some kind of filler (newspapers or styrofoam popcorn)to hold them in place.

Thanks Donna, I had thought about the padded mailer but, not about extra padding! Glad to know the padded mailer doesn't get squished through the machinery.

I have a lot of acorns from live oak trees. About an inch deep in my yard. The deer like them but we don't have enough deer to eat them all. I would be glad to send some to anybody who wants them for SASE. My son planted some in some gallon buckets several years ago. I smiled to myself, proud of his determination to make them grow. Well they grew and grew and grew. He planted them next to our shop and now we are going to have to cut them down before they grow thru the walls. lol
