Faster than the speed of light!

My new camera is awsome! It stops action and is so easy to focus.

Carly is of course a willing subject. This is 'sparrow patrol'

She chases only sparrows and will run to the edge of the earth to 'tree' them.I'm not sure why she has chosen this specific bird, but she hears them coming across the property and lies in wait.

I've done a little research and from what I can gather, this instinct has been bred into Shelties. Many years ago, these dogs were taken with the sheep and put on the small uninhabited islands of Scotland to spend the summer. There were no natural predators for the sheep, but the sheep would disturb the nesting seabirds in the rocks.Shelties were bred to chase the birds from the sheep so that their coats and hides wouldn't be ruined by the attacking birds.Shelties will exhibit this bird chasing trait if allowed to run free.In fact, they keep them at some big air force bases to keep the runways clear.
