Your advice, please

I grew this seedling in my office window. It is about 24" and has formed a Y. I brought it home because I have off for 2 weeks and no one else would be there to water it.

Linda, I love the brugs trained as standards instead of bushes. As it has y'd so short, it would make a great container plant. Do you know what cross it is? All the seedlings that I have grew very tall before Y'ing.

If I were you I would start working on straightening up that trunk just a bit. Once they get very large, they are what they are! You already have a stake in the pot - just take something with a little give to it (like pantyhose) and wrap it around the trunk and stake. Periodically, you can unwrap it and rewrap it. It looks like this trunk is still soft enough to be trained straighter.

I have several brugs that I wish I had paid more attention to their shape during their formative period. Some of mine look more like Charlie Brown's Christmas tree. LOL. Nat

I could not get this to post awhile ago.

It is getting little buds, several have fallen off. How do I treat it so that it will bloom inside, under lights? Feed? Water? Pray?

Yes, yes, yes! Good luck.

I have buds on Versicolor Orange, have in room with window light, to south/west. I do have a florescent light for dark days, which we seem to have a lot of.

That is amazing. I've never seen a seedling bloom that short. Can't wait to see what the blooms look like.

I have several Brugie. With mine it was because I kept them in pots way too small for way too long.

Then I had one that was also kept in a small pot but when I finally moved that into a 15 gallon it grew from 3 ft to 10 ft in 1 month!!

Great close up Linda. What camera do you have?

Maybe they will stay on. If you do not change anything much about the plant during the blooms growth, like drastic fluctutation in temp, or moving it or giving it much less light, it may bloom great for you inside. Mine never have.

It looks like it needs repotting. Are roots coming out of the bottom of the pot?
I still don't understand what rockwool is......

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Woodspirit, there are no roots coming out the bottom. It has grown in my office window since April. Is it ok to re-pot when it has buds?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Not unless you want to chance the buds falling off. I'd keep it as is. JMO.

hmmmmmmm, I read the thread but still don't know exactly what it is or where to buy it. Is it that stuff florists use to arrange flowers with?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It is what hydroponic growers use to grow plants in. If you do a search for Rockwool, you will come up with a lot of sites and can see what it is and how it works. There is another thread on her with a picture of it with brug seeds growing from it.
