Orange Esperanza, Orangebells, Orange Trumpet Bush 'Orange Jubilee' (Tecoma alat

Iredell, TX

This esperanza is much hardier than the one with yellow blooms. I have two of these and they are spectacular when they are covered with orange blooms. Great plant!

I had read that they are more hardy than the yellow, but I don't trust all that I read until I have information from someone who is actually growing the plant. My yellow Gold Star esperanzas freeze to the ground during a hard freeze. We have had temperatures below freezing several times already, but they haven't bit the dust yet. There have been more freezing nights than usual for this time of year, but the temperature has been low for only a few hours. I had heard of the orange, but had never seen it before until I saw the one in the photo. It is a traffic stopper ... well, at least it stopped me on my way home from work. Thanks for the information.

I will send you some seed next year. They are difficult to find - I have only seen them in two nurseries. They also freeze to the ground during very cold weather; however, they come back beautifully every year.

Thanks for the offer of the seeds. I would really like to have at least one of these. I have never seen them in a nursery here.
