Hi Clare!! I just got this vine. What do you think if I plant this vine under a Princess Flower tree to grow up? WIll it smother it? THANKS for your advice.

Hi Kell, the Princess Flower and the Thunbergia will go great together. I have lots of purple and orange together in my yard. The vine climbs clockwise so you might have to wrap the vine around the branches a few times to get it to go up where you want it to go; otherwise, it will just sprawl along the ground if not given some help and support. In my experience, this vine does best in part shade or full shade so underneath a tree is perfect. The vines are so light and delicate it will not smother your tree. Be sure to wear gloves when handling the vines because the tiny hairs along the vines can irritate your skin.

This picture below shows my vine climbing my magnolia trees. I pulled the vines down and wrapped the around the arbor in the picture.

I get palpatations thinking of the bright orange with the bright purple. LOL. I will dig a hole today. Thanks. I have the dot thunbergia and they smother anything in their path. Here they will cover a house.

Thanks Clare

Sure, Kell. Also try Mexican Flame Vine and Blue Potato Bush together if you have them:-) They will increase your palpatations!
