I know what you mean about cabin fever. I sure wish Spring would hurry and get here. This is a bad pic of Cyprees gardens but it was sure full of blooms.

I was just telling DH a little while ago, that as soon as Christmas was over it was going to be so boring. Everything dead outside and nothing to plant or take care of, nothing but reruns on tv, and nothing to do but look outside and long for Spring. Even the forums here have been pretty slow lately.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well, I'm pretty sick of it already. Can't wait for the new year and dirt!! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd say I love the smell of dirt. By I'm addicted to plants and can't wait to be able to get into the greenhouse to play, dirt and all. It will be good to see that tropical look again too.

Just this evening over dinner I told my DH that I couldn't wait for Spring! Seems I couldn't wait for Fall so I could quit mowing for a while, but oh how I miss my garden!!! Gretchen

brugie--that my dear is prettttttttttttttttty----very pretty. I wanna *work* outside.......

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This is that same bed earlier in the spring. Right now it doesn't have this much in it. Everything is brown and ugly around here. Maybe a small pile of dirty snow can be found, but that is about it.

Shirley, your first picture makes me long for Spring, or even Summer.

Snowhermit, I can see where you get your name from. You have great woods in the first picture. Can you take a picture, now, from the same place you took the first one? A before and after thing. Just thinking about my place when we get the big one and have our 1"-2" of snow. I'm drawing plans for a new brug garden and I like your layout. Thanks, George

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

It was 65 today and will be 33 by daylight. That really stinks.

This was Monday morning. Today is rain with a flood watch. There's been a couple of bad ice jams causing flooding on some of the rivers.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

With the Christmas rush, I haven't had a chance to get cabin fever yet. But I have already ordered all my seed starting supplies, so that when January gets here - I'll be ready! I have a few things that I start early and then move them under grow lights. Most things that I start from seed won't be started until late Feb or early March.

I use this down time to pour through all the seed catalogs and to plan out what I am going to plant. I have favorites that I always plant, but I always try to add a few new things that I have never grown.

Plus, I need to give some serious thought as to where to plant all my new brugs. So, I guess you could say that I garden all year long - -even though the next couple of months will be done primarily on paper and in my mind.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

"shaking with gardening need", Ive only gotten one catalog so far so havnt even been able to pour over them. I will be doing some seed starting soon, I have some that need a longer growing season and hopefully I can keep the kids and dogs out of everything this year. I also need to figure out how Im going to enlarge my front garden again(this will be the 3rd time)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I hear you Dravencat..... my beds get enlarged every year. DH finally gave me a smaller tiller of my own so that he doesn't have to drag out the big one so often.

Two seed catalogs that I always love to receive are Parks Seed and Thompson and Morgan. If you don't get those, go to their websites and sign up for them to send one to you.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Snow and Poppy, I can't imagine having to live with so much snow. I've lived in the south all of my life, and call "cold weather" any day that requires more than a light-weight jacket.

Hi Nat, I've been looking at the seed catalogs too, but I already have more seeds (from DG and other gardening friends) than I can possibly grow. Already under lights are baby brugs, hostas, lilies, helleborus. Jan/Feb I'll start daturas, moon flower, various vines etc, and I have a very small yard with not much sun. Most of it I'll give away but I just love to watch them grow.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda, I, too, have received lots of seeds from DGer's. And I want to make sure that I use as many of them as I can this next year. But, I still want seed for some of the basics that I grow, like petunias, salvia, sunflowers and impatiens. But this year, I will not be buying nearly as much as I have in the past thanks to the generosity of others.

I took cuttings off of a gorgeous surfina petunia(Priscilla)and I am babying those under lights, as well as lots of brugs, a desert rose, an unusual portulaca(this one has foliage similar to a sedum and I haven't been able to get any seed off of it), and coleus cuttings.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I am already sick and tired of snow and the winter has not even started yet.

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

I'm staying busy starting brug seedlings and caring for the 80+ potted tropicals and houseplants I have inside, it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home, so I couldn't get anything done outside anyway. I've been keeping busy reading, drooling over the seed catalogs, playing with my doggie, and doing house repairs. last weekend I replaced all the plumbing under my kitchen sink and built a box out of 2X6 lumber with hardware cloth on the bottom, I'm using it to hold my winter sowing containers for now but it will be a soil screen this summer. I never seem to have enough time to do everything I want to, so I never get bored!

I sure will, Kell! I'll clean you out, err, I mean I'll clean up really well before you get back! I'm sure the neighbors won't notice the U-haul van in your driveway loaded up with plants!
