Too Much Food?

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

I am always going around with the vet and the kennel where I got my dog. The vet says cut back on the dry food, and more canned meat. The kennel says the opposite. Each suggest by following their recommendations, my dog will recieve less calories. And thus, lose some weight. Although the vet does say too much reduction and the dog may have a different personality.

She has always been hugh from 7 weeks on. I remember at puppy training class, one of her brothers was there. He looked the runt compared to her.

The daily diet includes: 1 can of Alpo, no gravy; 2 cups of Purina, low fat; 1 large biscuit, low fat. No people food; no other snacks; that is it!

Well a 92 pound Golden Retriever is a big one. I think someone said she should be about 65 pounds. But she is big boned and I can feel the ribs.

Should I cut back on the dried food? Gradually? 2 cans, no dried food?

Truthfully, I wish she were a few (5 or 10) pounds lighter. I swear the next time I go to the vet, and he says something, it will be the last time.

Here she is with her summer cut.

Edited for spelling.
