Bad news

I have just seen Daves May report and it is bad news for the UK forum, we few had the second hight post count, and now we have slipped down the list, the shame of it, get it back up there were it belongs, the forum to visit.

Hi Alan! I'm busy with my computer stuff at the moment. Means I'm not out in the garden much at the moment. Don't have much in the way of gardening news. Unless you're really desperate to know about WANs, LANs, DMAs and UDMAs that is. Had a Saturday School today. Passed through Stockton market on my way in. Found a lovely stall in the market with a terrific selection of perennials. A very pretty columbine with red flowers for a start. Half the price of my garden centre. But just not able to lug plant pots all around the university. Hope there's enough of the summer left after exams to return to the stall and choose a few plants... Deep sigh... Have another Saturday School coming up. Still it will all be worth it when I land a really brilliant job!!! (Brightens up) Just couldn't help looking out of the window...

I'd love to help out, but don't know what to say except we've had rain a part of every day for the past 3 weeks. The poor garden is so saturated with water, some plants have yellowing leaves. Some of the potted plants I put under shelter and they seem to be sending new green growth. But what to do? Some of the seedlings are laying on their sides. (If plants have sides !)

Alan
I must be the only one thats in the garden.
Went out out at ten and came in at 6.30 with tea breaks.
mowned the lawn , cleaned pond ,weeded path , cut some more bamboo, straightened new hornbeam hedge, laid some lovely stones ,sitting here with the back aches sore hands , and you want me to write as well.
I would love some help.diane Im in Sheffield not to far for you. I love the solitude I can please myself what and when to do it .by the way Alan I have a 25ft Gingko tree here.

Mark or Mary, You are the hardy geranium people. I just got a new bulb catalog through the mail today. It has a geranium tuberosum pictured. It says it's circa 1596 and is purplish and pink with darker veins. And price is $5.25 for 25 bulbs! Can this be a true geranium? I'm sorely tempted to order if it is.

hi djm

I have just answered your query in my own thread re my geranium photo album. they are real geraniums and are worth buying. they are lovely plants which are low growing but the flowering stem rises to about a foot above the leaves with the flowers opening at the top.

here's a flower

Hi,
I've been one of the lurkers here. It seems as though there is the most interest in geraniums here on this forum, and I just needed to tell someone. I'm so excited, my Geranium phaeum 'Samobor' bloomed for the first time!! It is so different, I really love it!! I took some pictures, hopefully one of them will turn out good enough to post!!

tinklebell, what type of bamboo do you have? My hubby wants some by our pond but i've heard it can be quite invasive so i'm sceptical, i understand also that there are loads of different types so i wondered what you have and whether you would recommend it? I've a slipped disc so i've watched my hubby clean out one of our ponds, and clear away some of the forgetmenots from one of our beds. Mind you one of our neighbours has a jazz band playing in their garden so he's quite happy!

Hello Alan and friends - I'm here in spirit but the body is buckling.....lol! I will try to check in from time to time until we get settled. Momcat - I too am an avid cranesbill collector! The more the merrier I say :-)

not wanting to be nasty, I cant understand how someone can say there is nothing to talk about re gardening. plants are coming into bloom everyday as others start to fade away. before we know it winter will be here once again.

I dont want to post many threads in case people think I'm trying to show off my photos too much.

Momcat - phaem is a lovely plant if only it had bigger blooms. I saw some today that were planted in a big drift in a woodland garden. they looked really smart.

I love your photos and I think I've posted enough of them lately to be called a show off too LOL

Mark, I forgot to mention in the other post, your geranium tuberosa is just perfect! I am going to order some in the morning! I didn't know they also came in bulbs, and with a spreading habit, what more can I ask for? Hopefully I won't have to wait til fall to get them. Thanks for the info, Doris

djm I wouldn't buy them now as they should be in leaf and flower already. either wait until the spring or locate some pot grown plants.

OK I admit I occasionally lurk in the UK forum but being in N. America it seemed out of place for me to jump in here. But I just have to now in order to say...Mark, that is nonsense! We love your photos and the more the better! So "Show off" a lot please! I learn more visually through photos than any other way.....besides....they are pretty!
