Aurea Pink

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I got this start through Arlene who got it from Eric. It is supposed to be the one that NH sells. I really like it, but lost my cuttings. Very hard to root compared to other cuttings. It also doesn't handle full sun when it is hot. Tends to wilt a lot.

I really like this one, almost as well as Butterfly. Seems to have larger blooms and a nice rich color.

So it does not look like Isabella in real life? Looks like there is definite color change between pink and white.

Wow Kell, almost blinded me! Pretty. NO, it is nothing like Isabella.

Sorry Gloria! LOL. Is this one better?

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one! I lost both of the cuttings of this one that you sent me. Everything else rooted and is happily growing here beside me in my fluorescent light garden. Thanks again, I really appreciate it, and will think of you all next summer when I see blooms!

So pretty Brugie, you lost then all? What a shame!
Did it have a great scent?

Isn't it the Aurea's that have such a different scent, or scents?
Citronella is one right?

(Hibiscus, feel free to jump in on the scent question, lol, I think you ask this question almost as much as I do!)

Brugie, it's sooooooo beautiful. Do you still have your parent plant? I hope so! It's just gorgeous. Maybe it would do better in the heat in part shade or shade. Another one added to my wish list!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I just got this one Brugie, when it gets big enough I will send a piece on if you need it and I do not kill it.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I have one too. I think of got it from Daturapod last winter. Poor thing sat in a 1 gal pot all summer. Now in 5 gal pot so should take off in GH.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, Kell, much better, keep those blooming.

I have this one from Glory. Love it, but can't remember if it smelled or not. Probably did, as they all do, some more than others.

Thanks everyone. I do have one coming from my friend Renee. She got two or her three cuttings to root. I just talked to her a couple of days ago and she will save one for me. Next year I'll put this one in a pot and make sure it it held over. I don't know about the fragrance. Have too many brugs to smell them all. LOL!! Kell, it does get quite a bit darker than this picture. It really is a pretty flower.

Ronna, I'm sorry you lost yours too. I also had another person or two tell me that they lost their cuttings. Rootdoctor has the mother plant now. It had been cut back to the base in order to send out cuttings. I hope everyone has a chance to grow this one. It really is pretty, but if I could only have one brug and had my choice between this one and Butterfly, I'd take Butterfly.

So glad you have another one coming from Renee. I couldn't decide between the two, Butterfly or this one, so kept both.

Mesilla Park, NM

The Aurea Pink and Golden Lady both dried up on me, I think I potted them up too soon. The rest look great Brugie, and have lots of growth.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm glad Antoinette. Seems that Aurea Pink just didn't want to grow much for people. Maybe it was too late in the fall. We will try again next year with both of them, okay?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gourd try a plastic bag to keep the humidity high.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Shirley, it's fine. Butterfly rooted and growing, and it was one of the ones that I REALLY wanted. Aurea Pink was a might-as-well addition because you had it and were going to cut it back. I have plenty of brugs (and will deny saying it to my last breath if my DH ever hears that I said that!).
