I think this one is so close to Jean Pasko that it isn't necessary to have them both. I just can't decide which one to keep. Which one would you prefer?
Tropical Sunset
I like this one, could be because I have this one..... a new cutting from bonnie and it's already Y'd
But really, out of the 2 photos you posted I do like this one best. At least from the color I see here.

The only thing I don't like about this one is that it doesn't hold up in the heat of the day. We really do need to work on getting more heat tolerant brugs somehow.
.......I heard that JP's blooms were on the small side???
I did not know that TS was so fragile, is JP tougher?
......I get a lot of wind up on the hill here. I want to put up some kind of windbreak and was worried about creating too much shade.....but then I do have a carload of hostas that were given to me ,so things could work out quite well.

Shirley, I'm not sure that it is any tougher. I didn't have my JP in full sun when I grew it a few years ago. It did bloom very well and held up well for where it was. I didn't think the blooms were small though. Maybe the fact that TS's blooms are larger has something to do with them not holding up in the sun too. Thinking back, I do believe JP bloomed heavier.
I hade Jean Pasko this year and it had huge really pretty flowers, but it didn't bloom in the heat of the summer. I'm not keeping it for next year.
I hope TS does better since I have a cutting of it.
Brugie, you say it doesn't keep well in the heat. Does that mean that it actually blooms in the heat?
Kris, mine bloomed in the heat, the blooms just wouldn't stay nice and crisp. They would be limp all day and not really ever come back and open up.
Well, I will try it since I have it, but it doesn't sound like a Georgia brug.
Kris, give her afternoon shade and she might do well for you. I had her in full sun this year and we had days and days of hot weather with a heat index well over 110. Anything should wilt in that kind of heat. Good luck!!
TNX for the info Shirley.

I had both bloom this year and I liked TS much better. In fact I just loved it. The blooms were huge and had a deep color. I even loved it when it had not yet opened all the way. OBTW Brugie, I like your pic and I love your trademark!
The colors were more defined. I will try each one more time and repot them in big pots
Kell, I did the copyright thing one day when I was bored. Thought I would put it on all of my brug pictures, but then got bored with doing it. LOL!
Both are beautiful.
Thanks Monika.
Great pictures Brugie and Kell....I agree with scooterbug - I like your TS better....
Jeanne, you haven't seen my house full of cuttings, have you? LOL!!
I'd love a cutting of Jean Pasco because our summers don't get very hot here. Anyone can send me some? Can I start them now?
Brugie,
.......Glad I found you here again (I hope).
Your referral to TS as being somewhat fussy, the leaves on mine are drying out on the ends ..almost looks like windburn??? Go figure.
..........I do run a 6" fan for air circulation along with the supplemental light for four hours after dusk.On a timer, just enough to barely see leaf movement. I like to do this to dry any damp surface at night.
The plant is growing well and has a few buds starting.I would like to see the foliage a little darker like the rest but otherwise it looks good. Any ideas?

The only problem I could see with the foliage on mine was that it was always trimmed with a bit of yellow. The leaves were dark enough and it looked healthy. When it gets some size to it, you might try a tablespoon of Epsom salts in a gallon of water and see what happens.
Ok, that's about all I could think of also.
Thanks shirleyiniowa.
shirleyinwis...lol
brugie if u and kell would let me have a cutting of the ones in ur picture, i would gladly pay postage. werewolf!
Shoot, you are about two months too late. I have to take cuttings for myself and keep them in the house over the winter, so I don't have anything to share right now. I'll be more than happy to share my brugs next summer and fall though. Hopefully you will find a cutting of these before then. Sometimes those people in the deep south have extra cutting material they can share when us northerners are dug in for the long winter without brugs/blooms.
