Gosh, that is a really intense yellow. Very pretty.

Thanks, Brugie. The foliage was neat too. It was bright green with white speckles. It comes up once a year to bloom then dies back to the ground whereas my other Calla Lilies stay and grow through the winter. I am getting flowers now too for some reason. Here's a double that I got in June. I'm not sure if this will produce doubles all the time or if this was just a fluke.

Here's some that bloomed recently:

Have you ever grown them from seed? Takes a long time, but kind of fun. I'm guessing three years to bloom and that is just guessing because I gave up.

Hi Brugie! No, I have never grown them from seed, but they do pop up all over the place, and I pot them up. Does the seed become bulbs? I'm growing a lily from seed that is taking forever to become a respectable size. Three years is a long time to wait!

Yes, the seed does eventually become bulbs. Even when you dig up the seedlings, you should be able to see the beginning of the bulb. I just don't have the patience to wait that long. It is easier to just buy the bulbs. LOL!!

I thought that Calla Lilies had bulbs, but I couldn't remember for sure. Yes, bulbs are a much better way to go! I've even dug up a rooted stalk from one of my existing plants to send to someone in a recent trade.

I have best luck putting them in pots. My soil isn't the greatest where I have some shade. I like them when they are just foliage, especially some of the varieties with the speckled leaves.

OH, Clare! Those are so pretty! One of my favorite plants. I have a few bulbs, but I forgot to plant them last summer, so I started them in pots indoors this fall. The foliage is growing but no sign of a bloom yet. I got some seed from my brother's plants in San Jose this fall also. I put them in with the plants I mentioned earlier, but no sign of any thing yet. He doesn't even remember what color they are! Thanks for the pictures.

Roshana, thanks for your post! I love the way the flowers look in vases, don't you? I think the bulbs should bloom for you in the spring, but the ones from seed may take a bit longer. Above, Brugie says her took longer than three years to bloom from seed! It would be neat if your seeds end up being different colors. I saw some pink ones earlier this year.
