countdown to spring

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

I have started my official countdown. It is the only thing that helps when I start my day in the dark, finish it in the dark and seem to have so little of the non dark in the middle.

So 14 days til my start of spring - after the winter soltice it only gets better and it improves my mood no end to think of dec 21 as the first day of spring.

I'm right there with you. Just waiting for more catalogues to come in the mail, or online to be updated. Try to stick your head outside during the day. If your lucky you might see sunshine.

I had the same thoughts jagonjune...knowing that we will
be headed the opposite direction soon helps! But getting
through Jan and Feb will be even better ;)

Hi all, from the wet coast.
Last winter we were blessed on the coast, it didn't rain much so it wasn't grey.
If it makes you feel better, it is pouring rain here and the clouds are almost to the ground. It is DISMAL!!
I'm waiting for Sunday ~ I'm expecting a miraculous improvement. :~))) Can only hope.

Gets pretty wet up here on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, too. All summer I wonder why I don't get out more in the winter, but then winter comes and I know why! Yesterday, I ventured across our driveway to take a cup of homemade eggnog to my husband in his shop, and BAM! down I went on the ice, right on my hard old head. I've still got a goose egg.

By the time the holidays are over, I'll be indoor gardening. The geranium seeds should go into starter trays now, and there are a few other ones as well that need a very early start. None of these can be trusted outdoors until June 1st, so I've got a long wait to actually go out and 'garden'.

nice to hear from you liz and weez - haven't heard from Alaska in a long time and you must be even darker than we are. How short are your days now weez?

Pretty short, jagonjune. It doesn't really seem to get light out until 10 or 11am, then begins darkening up before 4pm. I'm living on the light of the computer monitor these days!.. Hi, Roselaine!
