Had a lot of blooms, Dr. Suess

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This picture was taken in Sept. a year ago. I had so many blooms that year I didn't know what to do with them. It was so disappointing this year to not have all the color until the very end of the growing season. Maybe next year will be better. Can you tell I'm bored? Bringing up stuff that has already been posted...hopefully some of the newer members haven't seen the pictures.

That's beautiful. How long until my Dr. Seuss cutting will look like that? By the way, what do you feed your brugs & how often?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Those were all first year cuttings, planted directly in the ground. I feed the plants in pots quite a bit, but those in the ground probably didn't get fed more than just a few times all summer. I was using some fertilizer from our local greenhouse that summer that would have been similar to Miracle Gro or Peters.

Wow. In a year I'll have that? It sounds unbelievabe!! I can't wait.

Keep them coming,Brugie!!
I love them all.

Wow, that's a lot of flowers. I can see how you would be disappointed to not get the same anticipated show again.
Post away, nobody gets tired of brug photos.

You always have so many flowers on your plants. They are bautiful.

Not this year Terry. A big disappointment. Have to hope that next year will be better. I guess by the time I finally had some good blooms they were pretty, but I sure missed them during the summer. Glad you had picture to post to keep me going.

Keep them coming Shirley! It will brighten the winter days.
This year, I didnt have many flower either. Over a long period it was too warm and too dry. When finally in September, many of them had buds, I had to start with the cutback.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That was depressing, wasn't it Monika. I hated to cut all the nearly mature buds off, but it had to be done in order to save cuttings for people.

I haven't seen that picure before because I'm a newbie here. Wow! It's gorgeous! You must have wandered outside a night just to breathe in the wafting aroma. Is it near your Maya? Maybe someday those two will cross with each other. I bet that would be an interesting cross.

What a lovely picture!

Like Clare, I am new as well so haven't seen it before. Please post more of them!!!

Actually Dr. Suess and Maya were close together and Maya had a lot of seed pods on her when she went to her new home. I forgot to take a cutting of Dr. Suess before I sent her on her way, but was able to get another before this summer. It didn't do well for me like this one though.

Shirley, where is Maya's new home? Does she still have the seed pods? Those could be some neat crosses, especially if the variegation came through.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Clare, the Maya picture I posted was from over a year ago and Kyle has that plant. This summer's Maya is in KC with Rootdoctor. I grew a half dozen of the seeds that Kyle sent me from Maya, but sent them on to new homes when the Roundup was here this spring. Have no idea what happened to any of the seedlings that people took home with them. I would like to know how all of them turned out.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Shirley, thanks for the info. Bob is such a sweetie! He's going to root a cutting of Maya for me. Gardeners are the nicest people!

Yes, I definitely hope the people that you gave those seedlings to report back to you and let you know how they turned out. I would love to know as well!
