Rosamond cross...from a friend

Another seedling that bloomed very late. I'm hoping it will have better color next summer.

Looks like Isabella doesn't it Brugie? I have lots of holdovers too. Which is too bad for I have no room with my new crop to plant

I'm lucky that I have enough room to plant everything plus more. The question is...do I want to do a lot more. It is very time consuming to have a lot of plants, but I don't know any other way that I would enjoy my time as much. I'm not looking forward to next summer for one reason. This should be the year of the spider mites. I only have them every other year. Last summer I didn't have to spray for them at all. I did one spraying when I thought the plants looked like they might have cyclamen mites starting, but it was heat stress.

What do cyclamen mites do? What are the symptoms? Are those the ones you can't see?

Why do you only get them every other year. Is there a reason for that?

I'm not totally up to speed on them. Wish Susie would come and explain what they do. Yes, they are the ones you can't see and they work the growth point, making the growth crisp I believe. The leaves will roll or curl some too, I think.

Gosh Shirl, You have some beauties to look forward to next summer!

Cyclamen mites are the worst! They're hard to get rid of too. Brugie's description is right on... Disfigured, stunted foliage... and the leaves get crisp and brittle. You can't see them with the naked eye... and they don't make webbing, like the two-spotted mites do. The backs of the leaves look rusty, and feel gritty. I battled them last summer but this past summer I didn't have a problem with them.

It does have a beautiful shape. Hope the colors better for you next year

I had much problems this year with spider mites because of the very warm and dry summer.
Its a nice flower Shirley.

I'm glad that I had three or four brug seedlings that have some promise. Next year will tell the story. Thanks everyone. I can't wait to see all of the seedling bloom next summer.
