i know this is probably dumb and been answered some where but here goes any way
now that the cold has gotten all my angels leaves dead and its staying cold do i cut it back to the ground level?? doesnt look like its gonna get warm anytime soon. the stalks are still green and hard except the tips which are sorta mushy. the neighbor down the raod from my mom in laws cut hers all the way to the ground last month.
okay what should i do???
question
I am new, but I don't know anyone who leaves theirs outside unless they are in zone 9 and higher. I'd be afraid to here in zone 7b. I have heard of that about cutting and mulching. Maybe someone from SC will come along and help.
What zone are you in? I really do not know. All mine that got freezer burn a few weeks ago are now all sprouting new growth. I have a good chance here that there will be no freeze bad enough to kill off my trunks and branches, so I am leaving them. If I were to cut them back now it would stimulate even more growth and I do not want that. However, if I had damage to the branches, I would remove that part.
If you live where it will freeze more and longer, I guess they are gone anyway. I would cut them back and mulch because the damaged mush stems left after a freeze can be an entry for disease.
But I really have no idea Imzadi.
Did you take cuttings for the house just in case?
Are your brugs full sized brugs or from the cuttings you got this fall? If they are full sized, I would cut them back after a while, but get them mulched heavily now. Even doing that doesn't guarantee that they will come back up next year, but it will give them a better chance.
they are full size. i have a few in the green house just in case. i will mulch them and see what the weather brings. i plan to cut the mush off tommorow.
