CD writer installation problem....

my son sent me a computer he, himself built. everything works fine, except i can not install my CDRW. the CD on this new computer won't read the software of CDRW. i tried the CD to play CD music and it works. everything is hook up properly. i just could not install the software of the CDRW{Acer CDRW 6x4x6].

i check the system info. it say the CD on the system is Matshita CD-ROM CR-588 if that info help any to analyze the problem.

the computer is Pentium II processor, 333 MHz. it runs on Windows 2000. TIA
