Great photo. I also like the lisianthus. Too bad they take so darn long from seed to bloom. But they are worth the effort.

Broots, have you grown them from seed? I want to give them a try this year and would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks.

NoH20, yes I have been growing them from seed for the last 4 or 5 years. I usually start them around Jan.15, sooner if I find the time. I would recommend buying pelleted seed. Otherwise the seed is just like dust. I DO NOT cover the seed with soil. They also grow very, very slowly. But I think they are worth it. Good luck.

Thanks, broots. Where do you get your seed?

I order most of my lisianthus seed from Park Seed.

Have also ordered from Stokes.

Personally I find that Park Seed has the biggest variety. Probably lots of other sites with equal or better varieties out there too.

The following also lists some other sites for Lisianthus seeds.

Thanks so much, Broots. I probably should put an order in SOON if I am going to start them in January. Can't believe the year is almost over. In 2 weeks the days will start getting longer (although it will be a long time before they start getting warmer!).
