Orange Glow Canna

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I've waited all summer for this one to bloom and now here it is. This is such a pretty color.......It's suppose to be a lite freeze this weekend so I'll cover it and hope it will stay pretty awhile longer.

You would not belive how I have babied this thing. It is in the worst soil in the yard. I have watered and fertilized this one by hand and hoped it would make it. It was so hot and dry when we moved here and it had died back to the ground almost. I discovered it by accident when raking leaves next to the house. I started watering and caring for it and it began to grow. I fought off the urge to dig it up and transplant it somewhere else but will in the spring.
I think it's a keeper.......

I would love to get even one seed from something like that. Ive got one that I started from seed. One seed and now I have about 5 plants, I just started it this summer. Its now in a pot in the DR to give it more growing time, Ill put it outside in the spring.
That canna is georgeous, what a great find.

Root and Dravencat,I hope this will multiply lots and when it does I will be more than happy to share with yall.

There are several more shoots coming up along side of it.
From the way it looks and with the weather turning cooler now it may not bloom again until next year.

The color on it is just a intense as it appears in the photo and I don't think I have ever seen one quite as bright. Boy this one was a real surprise.

Thank you Dee, and thank you for sharing. When I moved into this house two years ago I saw daylily leaves coming up all along part of the fence. There was no bed there and I wouldnt let DH mow the backyard until they bloomed so I could see what they looked like. Orange Flore Pleno is what they turned out to be. I ended up digging them and moving them to a more protected spot from my dogs and gave a bunch away I had so many. Im thinkng about trading some next year, this year I just did postage to see how I would do and had a great time doing it. I agree with Root, when you have a clump coming up of those it is going to be sooo purtyful.
