My Little dog Sugar passed away this morning

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

Just wanted to share this with people who I know will understand that dogs are people too.
Sugar has been fighting a losing battle with epilepsy for four months now. In October she had a cluster of seizures and we rushed her to the Emergency Animal hospital. Early this morning around 3 am she started clustering again and by the time we made it to the emergency clinic our baby girl was gone.
I miss her so much as do the rest of our clan. When we arrived back home not one of the dogs barked their usual greeting when the garage door opened. You could have heard a pin drop. They knew something very traumatic had taken place. I don't know how they understood, but they couldn't have been a better comfort than a human. Lucy my beagle mix licked at my eyes when she saw the tears and Corkie who is usually very boisterous when we walk in the door was very quiet and lovingly sat beside us on the floor.
It was a sad day and I will miss her for a long time with all the fun memories she made in her 19 short months here on earth.
Here we all were just the 28th of November goofing around. It is hard to believe she is gone. She is the one in the foreground on her back.
Thanks to all of you who have offered words, poems and encouragement when I need it most.
You are all a great bunch of people and your pets and people are lucky to have you in their lives
