I'm new to Dave's Garden and have learned a lot from all of you already. Thanks to all of you for making such a cool gardening site.
Hello everyone
Hi there and welcome to DG from your southern neighbor. I have been here for 3 years... wow, has it been that long, and enjoy and learn something new every day. So tell us a little something about how you garden and what your likes are. If you have any questions or have some good information, feel free to share anything here.
Donna

smiling at your name from upstate new york. daves place is a nice place to visit. enjoy
Thanks so much for the warm welcome folks. (Waves to everyone)
Donna/SoCal: I love Huntington Beach! I still have a few family members down there in SoCal. (Waving Hi to Donna). My future mother-in-law lives in Torrance and my Dad and Step-mother live in Marina Del Rey.
Well, I just moved from SoCal to NorCal. I've been up here in the Sacramento area for about 7 months. My entire "garden" is on a 10x6 balcony I have a few more feet of growing space on the front landing and at the base of our stairs. I love growing plants, period. I'm constantly facinated by the whole process. I just get so excited when seeds sprout, leaves open, flowers bud and fruits set.
I took a Bonsai Class in Sierra Madre, CA about a year ago. I gave away most of my babies for the move up here to Sacramento. I did keep a few wisteria and oak trees I'm training. I recently bought a few new trees to train. Right now they're sitting on the balcony taking a rain bath. Geez, it sure gets wet up here compared to SoCal. I used to live in San Dimas, California. Our claim to fame was from the movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure".
I just went happy-crazy during fall up here. Wow, fantastic tree color, and Sacramento has the highest tree per capita count of any city except for Paris, France. At least that's what they tell us. ;) I collected seeds from Tulip Trees, Liquidamber and the dreaded Chinese Tallow Tree. We'll see if I can get any to start this winter.
I also just learned about Winter Sowing so I'm gonna give it a try and start a few herbs I can hang over the rails in planters.
Hey I'm pretty long-winded, just so happy to find some nice gardening folks to chat with.
Susan

Welcome to Dave's Garden BastetMau!! I'm enjoyed to read your self-introduction. I'm happy to know Bonsai is popular in the West. I like Bonsai, too because it is profound culture. You can make your own beautyful nature in a small pot:) Please enjoy the process of it!!
I look forward to seeing you in the other forums!!
Here's wishing you a very warm welcome to Dave's.
Sue
Thanks again for the warm welcomes.
Jo, I'll be at one of the chats when I get a day off from work during the week. ;)
goldenfish, One of the things I find so facinating and relaxing about Bonsai is the capturing a whole natural scene in a small pot.
I look forward to seeing all of you around Dave's Garden.
I'm adding my welcome although it looks like I'm a little late. Happy gardening.
hi, this is very good site wonderfull people though only know few so far... so helpfull..blessings.. happy trading
Welcome to Daves. Sorry I was slow in getting here. Of course, right now I'm having zone envy. Wish I had your climate in Iowa. LOL!!
Hi Brugie,
Thanks for the welcome.
Hmm.... I'm not so sure you'd like it much these last few weeks. Lots of Rain and Fog and a bit of sunshine once in a while. ; ) But at least it's a bit warmer out here. It's been hovering around the low 50's days and 35 to 45 degrees at night. You sure do get cold out there (checked it out on accuweather.com). Stay warm!
