There is a great website for greenhouses. International Greenhouse at www.igcusa.com They have the double poly with instructions and a drawing of a ventilation fan. I will start on mine in 2004. prcastle

Nice - the prices look pretty good, especially with shipping included. Makes me almost wish I wasn't considering relocating for a new job - or if I don't get the job, what a consolation - maybe I'll go and buy a greenhouse! :)

I recently bought my plastic from them! Not only did it arrive it prompt time but they saved me some shipping fees!

Their double-poly (tube plastic) didn't come in the size I needed but they cut some single poly to fit my g-house, shipped it in two rolls (to use as double) AND was thereby able to send it UPS instead of freight. (A bigtime savings.)

I enjoyed talking to them on the phone. I'll definitely deal with them again. Which reminds me...

...guess I better enter this into the Garden Watchdog!

Hi all! I've just suscribed to this site today. I've been reading what I can for awhile, but finally realized that what I really needed to do...was become a member!
Here is my question.... I have just assembled a hand-me-down greenhouse. It is in good shape, but I dont have a heater for it. This is my first time ever to have a greenhouse and I'm not to sure what I need to get it running efficiently. It is not very big ( 8x8x8 ), with a double fiberglass canvas covering, and a small window flap in the back. I'm looking to overwinter my Daturas, and ferns in it, as well as start seeds.
Help.....Please!

WElcome to DG, ArkieGal! Glad you jumped aboard!

As for heat, there are many choices you can make. Some folks get by with electric heaters. I, like some others, prefer propane.

Guess it is gonna depend on how high you want to keep the temps in there. Also how cold it gets in your area. Do you have a lot of low-temp nites/days? Will you be needing to run the heater quite a bit, or just on occasion? Is your g-house out of the wind? Connected to your house? Do you have power running to it?

My first g-house I heated with a wood stove. Loved it! Now my g-house is much much bigger and I prefer propane. I think there are a couple folks here who use electric heat. (They'll be along shortly, I suppose.)

Tell us a bit more about your greenhouse. That'll help narrow down the choices a bit.

Again...Welcome!

Horseshoe, thanks for the info! I've reposted this question on the Greenhouse forum where it belongs. I will give more info there.
Thanks!
