Hummer still here

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Two days ago I saw a hummer still here. Was amazed since we have already had a couple of little cold snaps, even light frost. Bet he's gone now. Good frost last night, suppose to have been down to 25-28 degrees.

It's gotten that cold down there?!!! Wow...
Keyport hasn't hit freezing yet but we've gotten close.

I hope the little hummer is where its warm and cozy!!!!

Pam, the cold won't keep them away... did you have a feeder up? i have at least 2 hanging out around here, have had hummers all fall.

No, I didn't have a feeder up. It was still feeding on blooms at the time. I thought they left here before it got that cold. But look at the unpredictable weather, 70's today.

Pam, rufous hummers migrate here from the rocky mountains for winter. last year i had one, this year i have two. when Fred came to band, he banded 3 different varieties of hummers in this area, mostly rufous.
they show up here in november, and don't use the feeders much til it frosts. i have a feeder on the window by my computer, i sure enjoying watching them.

I was at the Sierra Nursery in Roseville Ca. the other day and saw a little green guy. His camoflauge was so good I could barly make him out.Yes the cold doesn't bother them, except they land, no wings beating ,they just sit. I don't know if this normal or not, any thoughts on that. Monterey

I see them sit still a good bit, if I've got time to sit and watch for them. Don't think there's any here now. Nothing blooming for them to feed on. Only camellieas and maybe a narcissus, and I don't know if they would feed on those, kinda doubtful.
